The library’s countless new services

The library services provide access to the worlds of stories, information, community, and quiet work. All of this is now more easily accessible, say the library’s information specialists Eija Räisänen and Sirkka Ylander.

The library card works also as a key

The library services become more flexible by the self-service library, which can be accessed every day between 7:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m. The library is equipped with machines that allow customers to borrow, return, and renew items, as well as view their account information. Access to the self-service library is applied in writing at the library's customer service. To log into the library, the library card is scanned at the reader device located at the entrance, where a personal PIN code is entered.

Online payments

A new service at Louna Libraries is online payment, available regardless of time or location. Users of the self-service library, as well as other library customers, can make payments on the website louna.finna.fi by using the login button in the top right corner. To log in, the library card number and a 4-digit PIN code are required.

Participation point

Downstairs in the library, there is a computer that allows participation in various surveys conducted by the city and municipalities. Participation points are part of the library's shared democracy project. Most surveys also have a paper version available.

New solutions for remote work and studying

The city library has acquired two soundproof workspaces, which are also available during self-service hours. One room is designed for one user, while the other accommodates two users. The rooms are equipped with efficient air conditioning and adjustable lighting. These workspaces are available to all library customers.

Both rooms can be used for a maximum of three hours at a time. The larger workspace can be reserved, like other rental spaces in the library, via Julius Booking system.

The world of movies

The library offers the Cineast movie service, which can be accessed on mobile devices through the app or online at cineast.fi. Movies can be watched by entering the library card number and PIN code. Users are allowed 10 viewing sessions per month. Each movie is available for viewing for 48 hours.

The library recommends creating a user account, which allows you to view your currently borrowed movies, your borrowing history, and continue watching a movie you have started.

E-library at home and on the go

The e-library provides access to e-books, audiobooks, and digital magazines. The service is provided by the National Library of Finland and public libraries in collaboration. All Louna library municipalities participate in the national e-library.

The e-library app can be downloaded to a digital device from the app store. A library card is not required to use the e-library. The first login is done through strong authentication, such as with a mobile ID or bank credentials.
