You can soon enjoy a sauna and ice swimming in Lamminranta

The renovation of the sauna building in Lamminranta is nearly finished. It is estimated that from December onwards, visitors will be able to enjoy the sauna three times a week. The most enthusiastic ice swimmers will also be able to use the warm changing rooms at other times for a seasonal fee.

The sauna building on the diving platform side of Lamminranta has been completely renovated from top to bottom. A new sauna has been built inside, along with separate showers and changing rooms for men and women.

“Previously, there were two small saunas in the building. Now, there is one larger sauna that can accommodate 10–20 people at a time,” says City of Forssa Property Manager Harri Tuomola.

The plan is that the sauna will be heated on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. There will be a one-time fee for sauna sessions, which will be paid on site.

“For those who are passionate about ice swimming, we offer the opportunity to use a warm changing room every day between 6 a.m. and 8 p.m.”

The changing room can be used for a seasonal fee of a few tens of euros, and the room is accessed using a mobile app.

The old changing room lockers of Vesihelmi, which were removed during its renovation, will be recycled and installed in the new changing rooms.

Ice swimming at the request of residents

The improvement of ice swimming opportunities rose to the top of the participatory budgeting list this year. The budget allocated €20,000 for ice swimming.

“This budgeted sum has been used to improve the beach area at Lamminranta. New steps will be built from the sauna to the pier, and a new swimming ladder will be attached to the pier,” says Tuomola.

A bench for ice swimmers’ towels has also been built on the pier, and a pump keeps the water free of ice.

The kiosk at the end of the sauna building will be renovated as part of the same project. Harri Tuomola hopes that the city will find someone to run the kiosk by the summer.
